Varshever Radio - die Tageszeitung

“Varshever Radio”: daily paper in Yiddish issued in Warsaw in 1924-1939. It was an afternoon supplement to ‘Der Moment’ - one of the greatest Jewish newspapers of the twenty-year period. The editorial sector was entrusted to Salomon Janowski. “Warszewer Radio” was a sensational paper containing brief articles written in a light style. It had the circulation of one hundred fifty thousand copies and a very wide readership, which made it the financial pillar of the “Der Moment” concern.

The term was created within the framework of the project Zapisywanie świata żydowskiego w Polsce [recording the Jewish environment in Poland], whose author is Anka Grupińska, a well-known Polish journalist and writer, specializing in the modern history of the Polish Jews. The project, initiated in 2006 by the Museum of the History of Polish Jews, consists in recording interviews with Polish Jews from all generations.
