Abdiasz -

Obadiah, Ovadiah probably lived in the 6th century BC, one of the 12 biblical minor prophets, no information on Obadiah’s life is available. He is attributed with writing the Book of Obadiah, the smallest book of the Old Testament, containing threats directed at the neighbouring Edomites, the tribe closely related to the Israelites, who allied themselves with enemies (Babylonians?) of the Kingdom of Judah. The Book contains prophecies of inevitable defeat of the Edomites and renewed rise of Israel. The keynote of the Book is the belief that Yahweh is the only God who rules the world righteously and will get even with his enemies in the “day of Yahweh”.
