Gebert Konstanty, pseudonym Dawid Warszawski, b. 22 August 1953 in Warsaw. Publicist, co-founder of: in 1978 the Jewish Flying University, in 1980 the Trade Union of Science, Technology and Education Employees, in 1990 the Polish Council of Christians and Jews. In the years 1982-1989 editor and publisher of the quarterly "KOS" (Samizdat edition). He expressed his independent opinions in samizdat publications. From 1989 editor of "Gazeta Wyborcza" and in the years 1990-1991 "Po prostu", war reporter in Yugoslavia (in 1992 and 1993 he accompanied T. Mazowiecki), in 1997-2000 editor-in-chief of the monthly magazine "Midrash". Author of:Przerwa na myślenie (Pause for Thought) (Samizdat edition 1987), reports on the Round Table 1989 Mebel (Piece of Furniture) (London, 1990), political essaysMagia słów (The Magic of Words) (London 1991), reports from the front lineObrona poczty sarajewskiej (Defence of a Sarajevo Post Office) (1996), articles about Polish-Jewish relations.
