Abraham Dow-Ber, famous for his wisdom, was a son of Józef Berkowicz born in 1825 in Dawidgródek. The boy was remarkably talented and smart. In 1859 he was chosen for the position of rabbi in Kożan-Gródek and later in Lachva (pol. Łachwa). He managed the Jewish Community until 1889.
