"Shevah Weiss evokes positive emotions as he is probably one of the clearest examples of the Polish-Israeli common history. A dramatic history, but following this dramatic period also taking the forms of open and honest dialogue that is full of mutual respect as well as cooperation and looking for the common ground," Minister Krzysztof Szczerski, a secretary of state at the Polish President's Chancellery, stressed in a press statement.

Established in 1705, the Order of the White Eagle is the highest distinction in Poland. It is granted for exceptional civil and military merit to the most outstanding Poles and the highest-ranking representatives of foreign states. Its recipients included Pope John Paul II.
