We are pleased to announce that the Virtual Shtetl portal was granted an award in the Comenius European EduMedia Competition, organised by the German Society for Education, Information and Media (Gesellschaft für Pädagogik, Information und Mediene. V. – GPI). The award was presented on June 27, 2019, during the ceremony, which was held in the Chamäleon Theatre in Berlin.

GPI is the scientific society dealing with digital media, media didactics and educational technology. This year, the GPI bestowed the Comenius Awards to the outstanding educational projects from all over Europe for the 24th successive time. The Virtual Shtetl received an award in the category “Historical and Modern Political Education”. The Main Prize – Comenius EduMedia Medaille – went to the Dutch company ENECO for the educational platform You’ve got the power, which promotes the issue of sustainable economy based, inter alia, on the renewable sources of energy among middle school students.

It is yet another award granted to the Unit of the Department of Promotion of the POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews, responsible for modernisation and development of the portal. In June this year, we received an honourable mention in the SYBILLA Museum Event of the Year Competition.

Enjoying the award we would like to extend our thanks to our Readers for their longstanding support.
