During World War Two, from April 1940 on, the village of Bobrek was within the so-called interest area of the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp. After displacing some of the civilians from the village, the SS commandants decided to use the ground to make it a place of a forced labor camp.
The Bobrek sub-camp was formed in May 1944. The employees of the Siemens Schuckert-Werke AG company included 213 men (as of January 17, 1945) and 38 women (as of December 30, 1944) who worked on the production of electric fittings for airplanes and submarines. The camp was dissolved in January 1945.
