Pierwsza wzmianka o Horyńcu pochodzi z 1444 r. Tradycja głosi, że w XVII osada należała przez pewien czas do Sobieskich, a król Jan III Sobieski bywał tu na polowaniach w swoim zameczku myśliwskim. W końcu XVIII w. znalazł się w rękach Ponińskich. Za ich sprawą stał się uzdrowiskiem.
