Trzebiatowski Ośrodek Kultury (Cultural Center of the Town of Trzebiatów) gives special attention to the cultivation of the memory of the Jewish inhabitants of the town. In 2001, the director of the establishment, Mrs. Renata Teresa Korek, initiated a research project called “Żydzi w Trzebiatowie” (“Jews in Trzebiatów”) during which she collected all information and souvenirs concerning the Jews of Trzebiatów. The result of the research were articles which were at first delivered and then published in post seminar publications. Thanks to the articles, the present inhabitants of Trzebiatów were able to recognize the old elements related to the culture of the pre-war Jewish population (the destroyed synagogue and Jewish cemetery) of the town. The efforts of Mrs. R.T. Korek made it possible to establish cooperation with the then Israeli ambassador to Poland – Prof. Szewach Weiss who paid a few visits to Trzebiatów. The noted writers Miriam Akawia and Roma Ligocka visited the Trzebiatowski Ośrodek Kultury as well. In 2002, Trzebiatowski Ośrodek Kultury organized an exhibition called „Anna Frank – historia na dzień dzisiejszy” („Anna Frank – a history for today”). A competition for children and teenagers called “List do Anny Frank” (“A letter to Anna Frank”) was held after the exhibition. Currently, more and more materials about the Jews of Trzebiatów are being collected to broaden the knowledge acquired about them so far.
