Częstochowa had a branch of the Jewish Health Association from 1923. Its headquarters was in Warsaw and Stefan Kon-Kolin was its President.

The Association promoted health and hygiene amongs adults and school-age youth. It conducted a medical clinic which helped with prevention and provided treatment. Schools surgeries and clinics were guided by the Association. Dr Leon Gutman's practice dealt with surgery, laryngological treatment and  dentistry. Dr Perec was physical therapist, Julian Lipiński  tuberculosis prevention, Dr Orlińska cared for mothers and children and ran a clinic for pregnant women (also vitamin-enriched milk was dispensed for babies). Doctors also made home visits[1.1].

“It is important to stress out that Association had an important role in the fight against tuberculosis which, among Częstochowa Jews, was particularly threatening. The anti-tuberculosis clinic wase registered in August 1929 and had 942 patients recorded. In October of the same year, that number rose to 953 people. Of that number, 376 were children under 15 years old and 327 were women[1.2].

The Association ran a clinic at 12 Ogrodowa Street for babies and children up 7 years old. They also conducted extensive activity providing food to poor children in schools. A special division of the Association organised camps for children. For that purpose, a centre was established by Bolesław Tempel in Ostrów and was managed by Dr Lipińska[1.3].

The Association employed five doctors and, in 1939, had a budget of 120,000 zloty and treated around 15,000 people. Mizgalski wrote that “...owing to the Secretary Jakub Rozener, who was amazing organiser, the Jewish Health Association was of great benefit to the Częstochowa Jewish community”[1.4].

Activity of the Association, as with others, ceased with the outbreak of World War II, when the Germans entered the city. The Częstochowa branch of the Jewish Health Association was reactivated after the War in 1945.
