The company “Józef Blatt, Coal and Coke Export” (Eksport Węgla i Koksu Józef Blatt) was founded in 1909. In 1938, its seat was located in Kraków at 7 Gertrudy Street. It also had two branch offices in Lviv and Rabka operating under the name “Węglo-Koks.”

The owner was Józef Blatt, and the directors were: Anatol Teigman, Witold Blatt, A. Zimenstark. The share capital amounted to PLN 420,000. It cooperated with the following enterprises: Robur (Katowice), the Jaworzno Municipal Coal Mines (Jaworznickie Komunalne Kopalnie Węgla) in Kraków, the Directorate of Mines of the Duchy of Pless (Dyrekcja Kopalń Księcia Pszczyńskiego; Katowice), the Coke Production Plant Association (Związek Koksowni; Katowice), Derywat (Katowice). The company’s activity consisted in wholesale and retail trade in coke, coal, and chemicals.
