Szamotuły are located about 15 km north-east of Poznań (German: Posen). The Jewish community functioned there at the turn of the XVIII-th and XIX-th century, whereas in 1820 Jews constituted nearly half of all the inhabitants of the small town of Szamotuły. There are however no information on the later history of the members of this community [1.1].
