The Trading House „Maurycy Meitlis i Syn” was founded in 1885 in Sosnowiec. In 1934, it was entered in the register once again, perhaps in connection with changing the legal form to that of a limited liability company (Polish: spółka z o.o.). In 1938, its seat was located at 6 Dekerta Street. The management board was composed of Maurycy Meitlis and Ignacy Meitlis, and the attorney-in fact (Polish: prokurent) was Jakub Balsam. The share capital amounted to 40,000 zlotys. The company was a wholesaler of bituminous coal and coke.
