Jewish Cemetery in Suwałki was once again vandalized. Similar incident already took place in 2007, when a group of vandals sprayed swastikas on the tombstones. Police was inform about the happening. On the 13th of January 2009 a meeting with the mayor of Suwałki was held to discuss ways of dealing with vandalism. It was decided that video surveillance would be installed to prevent devastations in the future. This time hooligans splashed paint over tombstones. The Foundation for the Preservation of Jewish Heritage gave notification of the offence.
