Max Rostal (born 7th.July 1906 in Cieszyn, died 6th July 1991 in Bern) - world-renowned violin virtuoso and teacher.

He studied violin from the age of five, first with Prof.Henri A. Troucka, and then at the prestigious music school of Otokar Slawik and Michael Pogrobiński. In 1913, as a "child-prodigy", he played for Emperor Franz Josef I. He moved to Vienna and then to Berlin where he continued his studies at the State Higher School of Music. He gained fame as a violin virtuoso, called "The Cieszyn Paganini". Upon Hitler gaining power, he left Germany and settled in Great Britain.
