Father Grzegorz Pawłowski (Jakub Hersz Griner) – he was one of the few Jews who survived the “Reinhard Operation”. At the time of the extermination of the Jews from Izbica he was eleven years old. After roaming the countryside for a few years, a Polish family saved him and brought him up as a Catholic. He decided to become a priest out of gratitude.
The Griners family was taken from Zamość to Izbica. At present, he lives in Israel where he works in St. Peter’s church in Tel Aviv. He is a frequent visitor to Izbica where he prays for all the dead buried in the Jewish cemetery. He had a grave for himself built here so that he can return to the land of the fathers after he dies[1.1].
