Salomon Eger (born in 1787, in Leszno, died in 1852, in Poznań) – son of the famous rabbi, Akiva Eger. Between 1835 and 1840 Salomon was a chief rabbi of Kalisz. As his father, he as well, strongly opposed Chasidic movement. Widely respected Talmud and Judaica studies scholar, while fulfilling his duties as a rabbi, he also engaged himself in social issues, helping to open, in 1835, a modern, three classes school for Jewish children. Rabbi Eger, allowed Christian workers, to work during Shabbat in Jewish factories. In 1839 he became a rabbi of Poznań. After the death of rabbi Elijah Rogaler, again he was elected a rabbi, in Kalisz. He died on his way to take this post. Among others he wrote: Remarks and corrections, published in Vilnius in 1832 r.[1.1].
