The settlement of Magnuszew was established in the 12th century. In 1337, it was granted city rights, but lost them in 1655, when Magnuszew was completely burnt down by the Swedish Army. In 1776, King Stanisław August granted Chancellor Andrzej Zamoyski the privilege of establishing a town. Zamoyski used it to once again grant city rights to Magnuszew. Two years later, however, the town was destroyed in a fire.

In 1795, Magnuszew came under the Prussian rule. In 1807, it was annexed by the Duchy of Poland and in 1815 – by Congress Poland. In August 1944, the Soviet Army took Magnuszew and formed the so-called Warecko-Magnuszewski Bridgehead. During numerous battles, Magnuszew was almost completely brought to the ground. Currently, Magnuszew is a village in the Koziecki County (Mazowieckie Province).
