In 1986 in the place where the synagogue stood (burned in September 1939) by Senatorska street a bronze, memorial plaque was placed. It was funded by the local community on the 44th anniversary of the annihilation of the Łomża Ghetto.
On the plaque, under the star of David, there is an engraving in polish and in Hebrew: “Since July 1941 till November 1942 between streets Dworna - presently 22 lipca, Senatorska, Woziwodzka, Zielona, Żydowska - presently Zatylna, Rybaki, Nazis created the Ghetto, in which they exterminated 9.000 Jewish Poles. 3.500 of them were shot in the forest near Giełczyn and Sławiec villages. German occupants created, on the Łomża soil, ghettos in 15 cities. Tragic way of those 40.000 kept there lead to the concentration camp in Treblinka. May their memory and the memory of those bringing help in terrible times survives”.
